Re: You can eat butter
I was diagnosed as type2 diabetic in late 2008 and spent the next 5 years or so battling to control it with ever increasing doses of medication. In July 2014, my wife (bless her) persuaded me to switch to a Low Carbohydrate High Fat diet. 8 months later, I have lost 15 kilograms and my blood sugar levels are back to normal. My medication is now less than half of what I was taking. All this by eating food (Steaks, chops, chicken with skin on) fried in a combination of virgin olive oil and butter. I use full cream milk, cream and lots of yoghurt. I am absolutely amazed at the results and feel sensational. Long may it continue!!

Yez, but u were insinuating that the inflammation that causes atherosclerosis is caused solely by insulin resistance

I can't see de logic in dat

Pleaze provide a cause and effect diagram in simple terms

Re: You can eat butter
We propose that antagonism of RAGE, especially in concert with complementary therapies, such as strict glycemic and lipid control, will remodel the landscape of the perturbed vasculature leading to prevention/stabilization of vascular and cardiac dysfunction in diabetes and beyond. Rigorously controlled clinic trials are required to test these concepts in human subjects and are on the horizon.

Sound like a hypothesis?

And I'm sure you realise that when I recommended beef as a protein source (especially in the context of LEAN protein recommendations) I'm not recommending it as the ONLY protein source.

Though to be fair, the fact I only named beef as a protein source could be misinterpreted that way I suppose, so I'll concede that one. :)

I want an atherosclerosis-proof diet presented before FT in tonight's games.

Let's hear your recommendation first, as you clearly have all the answers. With sources of course :)

We shall see.

I want an atherosclerosis-proof diet presented before FT in tonight's games. Beef does not qualify.

Actually I did read on.

"inflammation (causing atherosclerosis), which usually is caused by or causes insulin resistance"

You just made that up, didn't you? Especially the 'usually'.

Most people (regardless of fat fuck status) would do best on a diet based around unprocessed, high-fibre (but not necessarily low GI as insulin is a powerful anti inflammatory) carbohydrates, lean protein from high quality sources (grass fed beef etc) and added fat mostly from omega3s and omega9s.

Artherosclerosis is caused by inflammation, which usually is caused by or causes insulin resistance. This can be caused by excess glucose OR by excess fatty acids - so a high protein, high fat, low carb diet can be just as harmful in this regard as a high carb diet (and sometimes more so as cortisol is higher with low carbs).

Margarine was invented as a food supplement to fatten up Turkey's for Christmas. It was then added with yellow dye to make it look like butter as a cheaper alternative to butter.

What if you don't care about adipose tissue (ie you're not a fat fuck)... If you only care about healthy arteries, what would you suggest is the ideal diet? A so called 'balanced (Western) diet' will definitely lead to build-up of plaque.
